Xavier Admission Test XAT Exam

The XAT Xavier Admission Test is conducted for admission to Post-Graduate degree programmes in Management at XLRI, XIM, XISS, LIBA etc. The XLRI is ranked amongst the top 5 B-Schools in India and XIM Bhubaneshwar is ranked among the top 20 management institutes in India.

The Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur conducts the Xavier Admission Test (XAT). The advertisement for form appears late in the August. The entrance exam is usually held on the first Sunday of January and the Interviews are in the month of March.

Registration: To register for XAT, candidates have to fill the XAT form that is available online at xlri.edu/xat. Once the candidate logs on to this site, a full set of instructions will appear and the candidate can obtain his/her ID and password following them. This ID and password are to be indicated for all the future correspondence with XAT Office, Jamshedpur . For writing XAT, the candidates should select their convenient cities from the list of city-choices available on the web site.

Eligibility

Graduation from a recognized university
Studying final year of their undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.

Exam Details

The written test contains 3 sections.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
This written test includes passage,poems and verbal questions like antonyms, analogies, jumbled paragraphs, sentence correction etc.

Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning ability
This written test includes aptitude questions in algebra, geometry, logarithm, interest calculations and arithmetic problems etc. and reasoning ability questions like critical reasoning, statements and conclusions, puzzles, family tree problems, symbol based problems, coding and decoding, charts and venn diagrams etc.

General Awareness
This written test includes the general knowledge questions in History, Science, Management and Political Science etc.

Essay Writing
After the written test, the candidate would have an essay writing section which is for 15 to 20 minutes.

More than one answer for a question and every wrong answer fetch negative marks.

Interview

Candidates are shortlisted as per the marks obtained by them in the above written test. Shortlisted candidates shall be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
